Nutritious Aloo Paratha – The sweetest start to every morning
The aroma of fresh ghee and potato parathas coming from the kitchen early in the morning is probably closest to the heart of every Indian. This is not just a dish, but an emotion. When a hot paratha comes on the plate and a piece of butter starts melting on it, the heart automatically smiles.
Why is Aloo Paratha special?
To be honest, Aloo Paratha is not just a name of taste, it is the taste of home love. One of the sweetest memories of my childhood is when my mother used to feed us hot parathas on Sunday mornings. At that time, I did not understand how nutritious it was, I just remembered the taste.
Today, when I make it myself, I take care that it should not only be tasty but also healthy.
- Filling breakfast: After eating Aloo Paratha, you do not feel hungry for hours.
- Dose of energy: Potatoes contain carbs which provide energy for the entire day.
- Emotional connection: There is something different about eating this dish while sitting with the family.
My morning and Aloo Paratha
Believe me, I make this paratha at least two days a week. When the kids wake up and say – “Mom, we have parathas today, right?” then that day goes by very well. My husband likes it with curd, kids like it with pickle and I just want butter. This breakfast becomes a small occasion of happiness in our house.
Healthy Aloo Paratha – My Favourite Recipe
Content
- 2 cups wheat or multigrain flour
- 3 medium sized boiled potatoes
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- 2 tablespoons coriander leaves
- 1-2 green chillies (finely chopped)
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- Spices: salt, red chili powder, garam masala, celery
- Ghee or olive oil for frying
Method of making 👩🍳
1. Prepare the dough
Add some salt to the flour and knead it softly with water. Keep it covered for 10-15 minutes so that the paratha becomes soft.
2. Make the stuffing
Mash boiled potatoes, add onions, green chillies, coriander, ginger and spices. Mix well so that the flavour comes out in every bite.
3. Rolling and Filling
Roll out the dough ball, place the filling in the centre, close it from all the sides and roll it gently.
4. Bake
Place it on a hot pan, apply ghee and cook till it turns golden on both sides.
Tips to make it healthy
- Add some millet, ragi or soya flour to the wheat flour.
- Add spinach, peas or carrots to the stuffing.
- Use less ghee and olive oil.
- You can also add cottage cheese for protein.
Serving Methods
- The fun of eating paratha with cold curd doubles.
- Place the butter on the slices and watch it melt – it’s a pleasure in itself.
- Green coriander chutney and pickle further enhance the taste.
- If you want, serve sweet lassi along with it.
Why is this the perfect breakfast?
- It is full of energy .
- Digestion remains good due to fiber .
- You do not feel hungry for a long time – Working people can pack it and take it to the office also.
- It ’s a mood booster – Truly, a good breakfast sets the mood for the entire day.
My suggestion: If you are health conscious, use olive oil instead of ghee and add more millets to the flour. But sometimes ghee wala paratha is also necessary – after all, life is not just about counting calories, right?
